| Hi Mr. Riley. I believe you know my brother Lou Pappas. He introduced me to when you played with the West Point Jazz band for PASIC event in the mid-90s. Been out of playing set for a long time to focus on symphonic playing, but decided a few weeks ago to start working on jazz again. I dug out my copy of The Art of Bop Drumming and went to work. Out of the blue got a last minute call to play for jazz bass masterclass taught by Wayne Darling. Floyd Darling was playing piano. I hadn't done any trio work in almost 25 years. Thanks to your book, I was prepared and the masterclass was a huge success! Thanks again for writing such a wonderful method. |
